Prevent Supply Chain Bottlenecks And Create Transparency
Geopolitical challenges, raw material shortages and low stocks are putting global supply chains under pressure, with production even coming to a standstill in some cases. Our solutions are designed specifically to keep production flows running at all times.
There is a need to integrate internal and external data to ensure that any complications – such as potential bottlenecks or upcoming expiry dates – can be identified in good time and alternative scenarios can be found. This also calls for changes to be made to production schedules based on actual components available on site and held by other companies, and for alternative supply chains to be established.
One Data Cartography, our innovation that consolidates data across system boundaries, plays a key role in this process. It creates a map that reveals data silos, broken links, duplicate data and non-transparent sources. In addition, it paves the way for the creation of high-quality data products. This serves as the ideal basis for our experienced data science team to devise suitable supply chain solutions – from conception to development to a successful go-live. A few examples of what we do are provided below:
Making the pharmaceutical supply chain more resilient
In the pharmaceutical industry, cooperating in production is a complex matter. In this use case, our customer works together with 10 contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
The challenge is to create a centralized, real-time overview of the complete material procurement process across all sites. Our solution collects and analyzes all supply-chain-relevant data for this exact purpose.
As a result, the customer can introduce a standardized system for all suppliers and CMOs. Material stock, demand and deliveries are 100% transparent, with different material numbers being linked automatically. A heat map indicates where there is a critical need for action at that moment.

Anticipate fluctuations in sales in the retail industry
As a rule, fluctuating sales in the retail sector lead to empty shelves, a fall in revenue and increased outlay in terms of logistics.
With this as our starting point, we developed an analysis and forecasting platform for Markant Handels- und Industriewaren-Vermittlungs AG that can accurately forecast future sales volumes.
It does so by first aggregating the anticipated sales figures of all retailers, so that they may be linked and harmonized across the board. Historical data and external factors are factored in as well. The result is a production scheduling system that allows plans to be made six months in advance.

Making warehousing fit for the future
“Make to stock” is where production is based on a forecast, with the warehouse being filled with the amount of products that will be required to meet demand later on.
This strategy puts data-assisted forecasting for market developments firmly in the spotlight. These forecasts have to be extremely accurate, quick, and free from errors, so that all revenue potential can be harnessed (i.e. without leaving too little or too much stock in the warehouse).
One Data designed an AI solution for Hamberger Flooring GmbH that automatically forecasts the sales volume for 400 products. The result is much more precise than previous solutions, leading the inventory quality to increase by 25%.

The benefits of our supply chain solutions
1. Resolution of production standstills thanks to alternative scenarios
If a bottleneck occurs, an algorithm can propose various scenarios for alternative production schedules or suppliers. It also enables surplus critical components from other suppliers to be identified, thereby ensuring companies can respond to potential risks in good time.
2. Increase in the reliability of supply chain management
The high level of automation ensures quality-assured processes even when supply chains are complex. This also increases the quality of the underlying data and the analyses that are performed based on this data.
3. A guarantee of complete transparency
We use our technology to build complete supply chains that integrate all supplier data and production processes – in real time and across sites for all stakeholders. This is done independently of the underlying systems and data formats.

“This solution enables our partners on the Markant forecasting platform to predict sales of several thousand near-food items much more accurately than before. This opens up all-new possibilities, not least for our contracted suppliers.”
